What a sweet surprise.
Caitlyn Jenner wasn’t expecting a visitor, but she sure was happy for the company. In a newly released I Am Cait clip, Kylie Jenner meets Caitlyn for the very first time.
“I do want to meet her,” Kylie, 17, says. “It will be a little uncomfortable in the beginning, but I think we are both ready.”
And they were. Kylie walked into the former Olympian’s Malibu pad with ease, and was welcomed with open arms by Caitlyn, 65, and her grandmother, Esther Jenner.
“Hey pretty!” Kylie exclaims in the sneak peek. Taken aback, Caitlyn embraces her youngest daughter with ex Kris Jenner. “Hey baby, I didn’t know you were here!” she excitedly says. “Where did you sneak in?”
Caitlyn, known as Bruce Jenner at the time, tearfully told Diane Sawyer in April what it was like telling her children about transitioning. “Those are the only ones I’m concerned with,” she said at the time. “I can’t let myself hurt them, and that is… How do I do this? How do I do this and not hurt my children?”
She added: “I tried to explain to them that as much of your upbringing was her as the he side, okay? I’ll always be there. I’m not going anywhere.”
Caitlyn also specifically opened up about Kylie’s reaction to the change during a May episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. “Kylie’s the one we’re really worried about,” she said. “She’s having a hard time dealing with this. I do everything I can to try to stay in touch but she doesn’t want to talk about it. She’s just shut me out lately.”
