LeVar Burton Reads “Go the F— to Sleep,” Childhood Dreams Are Shattered: Watch the NSFW Clip Now!

Remember the friendly man who liked butterflies and encouraged you to read as a kid? Yeah, well he would like you to “Go the F— to Sleep!” Reading Rainbow host LeVar Burton shattered his wholesome image during a humorous reading of the beloved, potty-mouthed bedtime book Go the F— to Sleep, which was written by Adam Mansbach in 2011.

The book has rhyming stanzas, filled with colorful language, like, “The eagles who soar through the sky are at rest, and the creatures who crawl, run, and creep. I know you’re not thirsty, that’s bulls—t, stop lying. Lie the f— down my darling and sleep.”

Burton, 57, read the expletive-filled story to a crowd of adults at a charity event held by Rooster Teeth production studio’s Extra Life team to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

After his popular, educational series Reading Rainbow aired on PBS from 1983 to 2006, Burton recently started a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to revive the show on a multimedia platform. He ended up raising more than $5 million for the web series.
