What happens in Miami doesn’t stay there. Luann de Lesseps penned a Bravo blog post venting about the drama over her yacht engagement party to Tom D’Agostino Jr., which viewers saw unfold on the Wednesday, July 27, episode of The Real Housewives of New York City.
Fellow RHONY star Sonja Morgan claims that she was friends with benefits with D’Agostino for a decade before he met the former countess, which has created tons of tension between the two ladies this season. Morgan, who was unhappy that the girls’ trip to Miami turned into a celebration for newly engaged de Lesseps in Palm Beach, made her feelings pretty clear during the fete.
“How many times do I have to tell Ramona [Singer] and Sonja that what happened before I met Tom doesn’t matter?” de Lesseps, 51, wrote in her post on Wednesday. “Sonja speaks of a 10-year flirtation with Tom in the same breath as congratulating me on our engagement. Who does that?”
“It took Tom only a couple of months to realize that he wanted to marry me and in 10 years, he never considered making the same commitment to Sonja,” she continued. “This doesn’t mean that Tom didn’t care about her or that he didn’t enjoy her company. They are friends. What it does mean is that our relationship is different, and we are deeply in love and looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together.”
De Lesseps revealed that she expected Bethenny Frankel, not Morgan, to be the one picking fights and starting drama on the getaway. “Is Sonja a sleeper cell? I’m thinking that Bethenny is going to be the terrorist of the trip!” she wrote.
The Skinnygirl mogul skipped the Palm Beach excursion due to her health issues and stayed in Miami, where she was filmed talking to a friend about “incriminating” text messages about D’Agostino that could “blow up this whole engagement.”
“You can tell how excited she was to tell her friend in Florida about something she heard regarding Tom and me,” de Lesseps wrote in her blog post. “The look on her face says it all … like a cat who ate the canary! Why some of the girls revel in making me unhappy, I’ll never understand. I’m just glad that I know myself and I know Tom so whatever Bethenny’s concocting, we’re ready for it. … We will see next week what trick Bethenny has up her sleeve.”
