Road warrior Max is on the way.
The first trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road was revealed at Comic-Con in San Diego, Calif., on Sunday, July 27. The explosive sneak peek, which showed Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron taking on the post-apocalyptic world.
The clip shows Mad Max (Hardy) in several explosive car chases, and getting captured and tortured in the desert. "My name is Max. My world is fire and blood," he says. Theron (commander Imperator Furiosa) is seen traveling by sea, while model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also makes a quick cameo as Splendid.
Director George Miller, who worked with Mel Gibson as Mad Max in the original films, attended Comic-Con over the weekend to discuss the reboot.
"It was very familiar," he said of returning to the franchise, via The Hollywood Reporter. "A lot of time has passed. Technology has changed. It was an interesting thing to do. Crazy, but interesting."
As for Gibson, Miller also joked about the actor's fall from Hollywood in recent years. "Who knew that Mel would turn into Mad Max at one point," he said.
Mad Max: Fury Road hits theaters on May 15, 2015.
