Malin Akerman's son Sebastian is only five-months-old, but the actress is getting a taste of perhaps what may come in his teen years on her new ABC series Trophy Wife. Premiering Tuesday at 9:30 p.m., the comedy centers around Akerman as she tries to fit in as the third wife of an older man, stepparent his three kids and deal with his meddling ex wives. As Us Weekly's exclusive preview clip shows, Akerman's reformed party girl Kate tries her best to keep it together to avoid trouble with ex-wife No. 1, Diane (Marcia Gay Harden).
Discovering that her stepdaughter Hillary has snuck vodka into a water bottle at school with friends after learning Kate used to do the same, Kate first tries to discipline Hillary -- until her mother comes along. "I'm allowed to drink water," Hillary protests when Kate attempts to take the bottle away. "That was a story, Hil, not a helpful hint. Now give me the bottle."
"Please don't let my mom find out! You know how she is. When I cut gym, she made me train for a 10K," bemoans Hillary (Bailee Madison) in the preview clip above. Agreeing to keep Hillary's secret quiet and "ground the crap out of [her]," Kate thinks she's celebrated a parenting victory until Hillary's brother, Warren, asks for a drink and Diane demands Kate hand over the bottle.
Lest Diane think Kate is an unfit stepmom, Kate decides to take matters into her own hands rather than hand over the bottle. "It's warm -- and I'm really thirsty, too!" she says, before chugging the vodka in one gulp and hilariously choking it down. Muses Kate: "That hit the spot!"
