Matt Roloff Tells Ex-Wife Amy Not to ‘Add to My Burden’ in ‘Little People, Big World’ Premiere Sneak Peek

Not just physical pain. Amy and Matt Roloff squabble about her responsibilities on the farm ahead of his hospital stay on Little People, Big World‘s Tuesday, November 22, season premiere.

Matt learned on the TLC series’ previous season that he would need surgery to alleviate his neck pain. In a preview clip exclusive to Us Weekly, Amy lets her ex-husband know that she isn’t prepared to take over his duties on the farm should he need to stay on bed rest longer than expected. But Matt isn’t thrilled about giving her a crash course. (As fans know, the pair’s divorce was filed in 2015 and finalized in May 2016, although they continue to work on their Oregon farm together.)

“I think those people in the family that want to understand, understand,” Matt tells her. “I think Jeremy has wanted [to learn about the farm]. Zach has less of an interest — he seems to be picking up his interest now.”

When Amy, 52, replies that she doesn’t feel up to speed, Matt, 55, explains, “I don’t want to get into it, but you can’t add to my burden, you know? You have to submerse yourself in it and become involved in it.”

Amy comes back with, “The thing is, you just said, though, ‘Don’t put a kink in the system. Don’t mess up the plan. Don’t get involved because you’ll be messing up everything.'”

“I wish over the years that Matt and I were able to work a little more in sync when it comes to the farm,” she tells the camera. “Matt had other people help him out, so the thought of anything happening to Matt, I would probably really question myself [and] whether I could really take on suddenly this gigantic project called the farm.”

The new season is also likely to follow Zach and Tori’s path to parenthood, with the couple announcing on Monday, November 21, that they are expecting their first child.

Watch the tense clip above. Little People, Big World returns to TLC on Tuesday, November 22, at 8 p.m. ET.
