No better time to gossip than brunch! On Sunday June 12, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga joined her friend Franco Porporino Jr. on his new AM970 The Answer radio show, Brunching With Franco.
“I think season 7 is going to be very, like, new, very fresh,” the singer told him of RHONJ. “I think that it’s going to give you a little bit of that old school vibe of the ‘Housewives’ that everyone loved from seasons 3 [and] 4. I think people were missing that, and so we’re bringing it back.”
Gorga also opened up to the celebrity manager (he manages Emmy Award winner Armand Assante) about her sister-in-law Teresa Giudice’s stint in prison last year.
“It was just a really hard year to get through, but thank God, she’s so strong, so everyone got through it,” Gorga said. “You’re going to see a lot of that unfold when she gets home on the ‘Housewives.’ It was definitely a hard time, of course.”
It was fitting for the mom of three to chat with Porporino, who is beloved among the RHONJ ladies. The restaurateur owns one of Giudice’s favorite restaurants, Fresco da Franco in Montclair, New Jersey, which is also often frequented by RHONJ newbies Siggy Flicker and Dolores Cantina.
And while he only started the radio show in April (along with Mary Papuyo, who helped create and produces the program), he has already seen a number of celebrities, including George Lopez and Arthur Nascarella.
“We have lots more celebrities coming,” the Italian Tribune’s Young Italian Entrepreneur Award nominee tells Us Weekly. “We make the show fun so people want to come on it and then come back on it.”
The show — which Porporino says aims to bring “the latest in fashion trends, hottest hippest places to dine, celebrities” — airs on Sundays at 12 p.m. (prime brunch time!) on AM970 The Answer in the New York area.
