Ne-Yo: Why I Dissed Snooki

1302023007_ne yo 290

Ne-Yo is a man of so many talents, it should be against the law. He's written and produced some of the biggest hits to hit the radio in years –  for everyone from Beyonce to Rihanna to himself! — all while scoring roles in major motion pictures (see the recent Battle: Los Angeles), fathering his first child (daughter Madilyn with girlfriend Monyetta was born last  November) and now doing his part for Japan relief by creating a line of Spread The Love With Music charity T-shirts (buy them here!).

So if anybody has a right to say whatever is on his mind it's the R&B star. But just watch out when you go talking about Jersey Shore's Snooki! Here, he explains his reason for dissing Snooki's recent Rolling Stone cover on Twitter, his big screen debut and doing his part for the earthquake and
tsunami-ravaged nation.

UsMagazine.com: What made you decide to create the shirts, with all of the proceeds going to help Japan?

Ne-Yo: Music breaks down barriers, be it language barriers, be it race barriers, whatever the case may be. I don't think people understand how powerful music actually is. I think that is what's absolutely called for at this time of crisis. So, with that being said, spread love through music.

Us: Now that you have been in a movie, are you going to get more into acting?

N: I am going to try. If I don't suck here, then yeah, you'll see me in more stuff. If I do, then you won't pretty much!

Us: Will you take on different roles?

N: That's the kind of actor I would like to be. I want to be the kind of actor who is a different person in every film I’m in. I want to play a paraplegic white guy in the next one! I think I can do it. I think I can pull it off.

Us: Do you want to do acting more so than music?

N: No, no, no — not more so than doing music. Music will never, ever go away, and if the movie thing is good for me, then I'll just add it on to the many things that I'm doing.

Us: Are you a fan of Jersey Shore?

N: You know, I've met one or two of the cast and they were cool. But this show as a whole? Not really. I have to say, not really.

Us: A lot of people have the same sentiments as something you Tweeted recently about Snooki.

N: Yeah — the whole Snooki thing. I've got to reiterate that I meant no disrespect to Snooki, I don't know her, so I can't disrespect her. But I feel like Rolling Stone is a music magazine and for them to put her on the cover is like, really?

Us: So no feud alert?

N: No, no, no – unless she is upset at me, in which case, let's talk about it.

Us: I think she said something about, you might have lost a fan..

N: Okay, well, I have others.  So I think I'll be all right!  I think I'll sleep tonight!
