Buddy system! The Orange Is the New Black cast have each other’s backs — even outside the walls of Litchfield Penitentiary. Several of the stars from the hit Netflix series — Danielle Brooks, Adrienne C. Moore, Lea DeLaria and Taryn Manning — opened up exclusively to Us Weekly Video about which costar they would want to be their cellmate if they wound up behind bars. Watch their hilarious answers in the video above.
“I legit do not think I can handle prison. The more I watch reality shows … I do not think I am born for it,” Brooks, 26, told Us at the show’s junket at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in NYC on March 30. “But if I had to take someone with me? Oh man, it might be Lea DeLaria (Big Boo).”
DeLaria, 54, meanwhile, would want Manning, 37, by her side. “Because I f–king love her,” she explained while giving Manning a fist-bump. “I adore her to no end. Taryn knows it. She knows it. She’s T-money. She’s my shorty.”
Brooks (Taystee), Moore, 34, (Cindy), DeLaria and Manning (Pennsatucky) have all starred on the smash hit since its 2013 debut.
Netflix renewed Orange Is the New Black in February for three more seasons. Lead actress Taylor Schilling opened up about her character, Piper Chapman, while attending the show’s season 4 premiere at the SVA Theatre in NYC on June 16.
“What was really exciting for me is that I really felt Piper started to come into her own,” Schilling, 31, told Us. “She’s trying on different identities almost like clothing at this point. And she’s trying to discover where she fits and how she belongs. And I think that’s so fascinating to play. That’s an exciting thing to explore.”
