The Saturday Night Live alum, who hosted the 2005 Oscars, is famous for jokes that offer incisive social commentary while also skewering important people and celebrities, as seen in Us Weekly‘s highlight video.

“The only acting you ever see at the Oscars are when people act like they’re not mad they lost,” Rock, 51, said during his 2005 monologue at Hollywood’s glitziest event. “I remember one year when Halle Berry won the Oscar, Nicole Kidman was smiling so wide, she should have won an Emmy at the Oscars for her great performance.”
