Gird your loins and clutch your pearls, because things got pretty intense on the Saturday, May 14, episode of Starz's Outlander. And when we say "pretty intense" we mean "horrifyingly dramatic."

Not only does Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) go behind Claire Fraser's (Caitriona Balfe) back and stab Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) in the penis during a duel, Claire "appears" to suffer a miscarriage during the finale moments of the episode.

Jamie Drops a Truth Bomb on Claire and Murtagh

Claire and Jamie are on pretty good terms, despite getting into a huge fight during last week's episode, but two important revelations come out of their dramafest:

1) Jamie tells Claire that the only reason he agreed not to duel Jack Randall is so that Claire can live with Future Frank (Jack's descendent) if something happens to him. Considering this season began with Claire heading back to her own time period, it looks like she took her husband up on that offer.

2) Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser (Duncan Lacroix) is so pissed about Jack and Jamie's canceled duel that Claire lets Jamie tell him the truth about where she's from. This means Murtagh is officially in the time-travel know and, yeah, his mind is blown.

Claire and Jamie Get a Much-Needed Win

Looks like Claire and Jamie might change the future after all! Thanks to Claire's "witchy woman" skills, she's able to concoct a mixture that fakes the symptoms of smallpox and use it to falsely contaminate the Comte St. Germain's (Stanley Weber) warehouse. The hope? That he and Prince Charles (Andrew Gower) won't be able to go through with their wine deal and secure funds for the Jacobite rebellion.

Things get a little complicated when Charles asks Jamie to move the wine to his warehouse, but Jamie thinks on his feet and has Murtagh stage a fake robbery. As of now, Prince Charles' Jacobite rebellion seems pretty dead, but head's up: The Comte is all kinds of suspicious.

P.S. If you're wondering what Claire gets up to while all this man-sleuthing is going down, she occupies herself by a) warning her buddy Maitre Raymond that the king plans to kill people who practice the dark arts, and b) shading her lady friends for not caring about Paris' population of poor people. So basically, the usual do-goodery.

Jack Duels With Jamie, Claire's Pregnancy Takes a Dramatic Turn

In a truly horrible twist, it looks like Claire might have lost her baby. Paris' resident feminist shows signs of trouble while working at the local charity hospital, where Mother Hildegarde (Frances de la Tour) casually notes that she's bleeding. While Claire does spend the night at the hospital to be extra careful, Mother Hildegard is basically like "no bigs, you're fine," and it's just, like, dear God, Mother Hildegard, Claire is not fine, and also you are a nun, not a doctor.

Claire makes it through the night in one piece, but she returns home to discover that Jamie's scampered off to duel with Jack Randall, which means he 100 percent broke his promise. So why does Jamie decide to go against Claire's wishes and fight Jack? To protect Fergus (Romann Berrux), naturally. Turns out Jamie and Fergus ran into Jack while paying off some of Prince Charles' brothel debt, and there's a heavy implication that Jack attacked the boy — though viewers don't see the exchange.

Either way, Jamie's motivated to get his duel on, leaving Claire furious, pregnant and bleeding. Of course, instead of heading back to a hospital like a normal person, she rushes to the woods and witnesses her ride-or-die stab Jack in the penis (note: it's unclear if he's dead). We would be all "clap, clap, clap!" but Claire suffers what appears to be the beginnings of a miscarriage while watching her man fight, and by the time Jamie finally notices, he gets arrested for illegal dueling.

So to recap this recap, Jamie's on his way to jail, Claire may or may not have lost her baby and Future Frank presumably no longer exists thanks to Jack being stabbed in his man parts. Next week can't come soon enough!
