Paranormal Activity 3 Slays Real Steel, Footloose at Box Office

Real Steel may have topped the box office last week, but it wasn't tough enough to brave the supernatural thriller Paranormal Activity 3.

In its first weekend, the third installment in the blockbuster horror series brought in over $54 million ($80 million worldwide) and broke the record for best October opening, while the Hugh Jackman science fiction action flick dropped to the number 2 spot earning $11.3 million in its third weekend.

The remake of Footloose, starring Julianne Hough, dipped to the number 3 spot pulling in $10.8 million in its second week.

Other openers this weekend received just a fraction of viewers' love when compared to Paranormal 3: Orlando Bloom's The Three Musketeers grossed $8.8 million and Rowan Atkinson's Johnny English Reborn brought in just $3.8 million.
