The end gAme is heating up. Hanna (Ashley Benson) took revenge into her own hands in Pretty Little Liars’ Tuesday, August 23, episode, but things didn’t exactly go according to plan.

She’s Got a plAn

After telling everyone she was going to New York, Hanna sat in an empty room and pulled out a bag with rope, tape and a video camera. She pressed record and sat in front of the lens to deliver a message. “My name is Hanna Marin,” she said. “If you find this video before I finish what I need to do, something went terribly wrong.” Later, Hanna got in a car wearing a hat so that she wouldn’t be recognized. She followed Noel (Brant Daugherty) to a dumpster, where he had thrown out a trash bag. Hanna went through the bag and pulled out Sara Harvey’s cell phone.

Return of the Hot Cop

Marco (Nicholas Gonzalez) went to Spencer’s home, as cops that you have a hot elevator makeout with do. He said Archer Dunhill fled to France with a fake passport, which was bad news for the Liars, but apparently good news for Marco, who could no longer be on the case. “I’m not investigating your friend’s husband anymore,” he told Spencer (Troian Bellisario). “Maybe now you can have a meal with me.” On the case, indeed. Despite his smooth (yet slightly inappropriate) line, Spencer turned down his offer because she wasn’t ready for a new relationship yet. #Spoby #Spaleb (but also kind of starting to feel #Sparco, you guys).

Not Quite a Cakewalk

Emily (Shay Mitchell) went to the Brew, where Sabrina (Lulu Brud Zsebe) was testing cakes for an order. When Emily looked at the receipt, she realized Noel had placed the order, and warned Sabrina to stay away from him.

Later, Emily was filling out her job application with her ex-girlfriend Paige (Lindsey Shaw), who she told that her relationship with Sabrina could be temporary. “She’s really great,” Em said. “But I’m starting to think it’s not going to last.” After explaining that she can’t tell Sabrina about her past, Emily told Paige that Noel had been torturing the Liars.

Let the Past …

Jason (Drew Van Acker) and Aria (Lucy Hale) sat in Ezra’s apartment while he was away trying to find his late love, Nicole, who may or may not be alive. As they discussed the secrets that may have killed Jessica DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker), Aria finally had the flashback we’ve all been waiting for. She and shirtless Jason (side note: hello, shirtless Jason) and Aria were kissing in bed and talking about their future. He invited her to Ethiopia, which leads us to believe that this was more than a one-night occurrence, but if Jason’s the type to invite his bae-of-the-day to leave the country, more power to him. Before we learned her answer, Aria came back into the present, and they went to the courthouse to get information on Mary Drake.

Hard Proof

Spencer and Emily went to break into Noel’s house because that’s a great thing to do when you think someone is trying to kill you. Emily found a box with the same print of a tattoo that Maya had on her wrist years ago. For those keeping score at home, Maya was Emily’s first girlfriend, last seen in season 3 when she was murdered. Oh, good, another potential character-brought-back-to-life plot to look forward to! From the box, Emily pulled out a hard drive. When they plugged it in, they found files on all of the girls with photos from their time in the dollhouse. They clicked on a photo of Noel spilling blood around Spencer. “I really thought I hurt someone,” Spencer said to Emily, remembering that she thought she was a murderer when she woke up covered in blood.

Spencer went home and found the power was out. As she looked at the photos on her computer, she called Marco and asked him to come over. As she waited, someone broke into Spencer’s house. Marco arrived and said that no one was in the house, but he stayed to keep her company.

End Game

Noel walked into the bar, where Hanna was waiting for him. She slipped drugs into his beer and walked over to him, telling him that she knows he killed Sara. “Didn’t you hear?” he asked. “Sara fell in the shower.” Hanna offered him an alibi, and held up her drink to toast. He didn’t drink the beer, knowing it was drugged, and grabbed the phone from her. “Be careful, Hanna,” he warned. “Or you’ll end up just like Sara.”

Holding Court

As Ezra texted Aria that Nicole wasn’t one of the hostages, meaning she was likely still dead, Aria’s former fling Jason returned with a file the court had faxed to him. We are willing to suspend our disbelief for many things on this show, but the Liars getting their answers via fax machine is not one of them. (Note: Can we bring back the death-threat-receiving Apple watches from the season premiere?) Everything in the file was blacked out except the name of the judge, who Aria recognized as Noel’s dad, leading her to think that Mr. Kahn adopted Mary Drake’s second baby.

He’s Out

Noel returned home and found Hanna’s hat. When he bent down to pick it up, Hanna appeared from behind and hit him over the head, saying those three little words we’ve been waiting for all season: “It’s over, bitch.”

Tell Us: Is Noel Kahn A.D.? And what did you think of Aria’s shocking hookup?

Pretty Little Liars airs on Freeform Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
