Not what she wanted to hear! Return to Amish star Kate Stoltz gets a dose of tough love from her boss in the Sunday, August 7, episode, as seen in Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek.
The TLC unscripted series’ preview clip features Stoltz, 25, taking a break from her internship with Cynthia Rowley to show some of her work to the fashion designer.
“I’m nervous to show Cynthia my website because I don’t know what she’s going to think or what she’s going to say,” Stoltz admits to the camera before the sit-down.
After perusing her site, Rowley tells her intern, “You have a really basic black-and-white logo. Everything is really clean, but I kind of think you have to do more now to stand out. It has to be more evocative. Like, that’s a beautiful picture, but it’s not telling me anything. You need to have something that has more personality.”
Stoltz is clearly jarred by the feedback and tells the camera, “Honestly, some of the things that Cynthia had to say stung a little, but in this industry, you have to have thick skin, and I do need criticism to help me improve.”
Rowley also advises her acolyte to incorporate elements of her Amish roots into her designs, but Stoltz has mixed feelings about that suggestion.
“I need to somehow find that perfect balance between embracing my heritage in order to help my career, but also to not exploit it,” Stoltz says to the camera.
