Tim Burton's candycolored adventure -- which made $332 million -- ages Alice (Mia Wasikowska) to her late teens and sends her down a bunny hole into an eccentric dreamscape. Joined by The Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), she must fight the evil Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) and find her way home. Wasikowska engages beautifully with Depp, who brings empathy to what could have been a cartoon character, in this idiosyncratic, visual feast. (Disney, $30)
