IN THEATERS FRIDAY 2/12

This tween adventure -- based on the first in a five-book series by Rick Riordan -- follows Percy (Logan Lerman), a high school student who learns he's the son of the mythical Poseidon and must somehow stop a war among the gods. The middling, special-effects–heavy flick is not as strong as the first Harry Potter film, but it's improved by a series of cool cameos. Winners include Rosario Dawson as sarcastic goddess Persephone, Steve Coogan as leather-wearing underworld lord Hades and especially Uma Thurman as the snake-haired, brilliantly evil Medusa.
