Clunky title, enthralling movie. In this prequel to the classic series, a scientist (James Franco) bonds with a simian named Caesar who has a huge IQ. When Caesar gets tossed in jail, he and his fellow apes go, well, bananas. See it for the nifty action scenes, aided by fascinating motion-capture technology. (Fox, $30)
