The British animators behind Wallace & Gromit return with this lovably goofy adventure set on the high seas.

It's 1836, and the insecure Pirate Captain (voice of Hugh Grant) is desperate to win the Pirate of the Year trophy. Along the way, he gets dissed by badass Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek), pub-crawls with Jane Austen and spars with a tyrannical, ninja-skilled Queen Victoria.

Some humor tickles -- the pirate trophy is handed out Oscar-style -- but other gags feel stale. Who really needs another Matrix-esque martial arts sequence?
