AIR DATE: MONDAY 1/11

After stringing viewers along for five seasons, show producers have hinted that they're on the verge of revealing lovelorn Ted (Josh Radnor)'s as-yet-unseen wife -- i.e., the show's titular character. That's why hopes are high when Ted meets adorably self-deprecating Cindy (Rachel Bilson). Tim Gunn also appears.

Guest Stacy Keibler (Dancing with the Stars) at least generates some chuckles as a sexy bartender who leads womanizer Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) to a make life-altering decision (he's willing to stop wearing his trademark suits just to please her). But the cast's much-heralded musical sequence in the final minutes is more silly than clever and irreverent. Please, enough dancing around the subject; let's meet that Mother already! (CBS, 8 P.M.)
