Stratton family reunion! Ricky Schroder met up with his Silver Spoons costars Joel Higgins and Erin Gray at New York City's Friars Club on Friday, March 1 -- nearly 27 years after their NBC sitcom about a spoiled rich kid went off the air.
Higgins, 69, and Gray, 63, who played Edward and Kate Stratton on the 1980s series, came together to poke fun at their onetime costar, now 42, at a "So You Think You Can Roast!?" event. Alongside Roastmaster D.B. Sweeney and celebrity judges Gilbert Gottfried, Seth Herzog, and Alan Zweibel, the duo honored Schroder with light-hearted digs and one-liners.
Schroder, in turn, fired back with a few quips of his own. "I'm the highlight of your careers!" he teased his former costars. Later, addressing the crowd, he joked: "For those of you still wondering who I am, I'm not the kid from A Christmas Story..."
The event was part of the Friar Club's ongoing "So You Think You Can Roast!?" series, in which comedians compete for spots at a roast honoring Dennis Rodman. One finalist will go on to "honor" Jack Black at the official 2013 Friars Club Roast in April.
Silver Spoons aired on NBC from 1982 to 1986. In addition to Schroder, Gray, and Higgins, it featured Jason Bateman as Derek Taylor, one of Schroder's pals. Christina Applegate, Bruce Jenner, Matthew Perry, and Sharon Stone also made guest appearances during the series' run.
