‘Rob & Chyna Baby Special’ Recap: Details of Dream’s Birth Amid Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna’s Split Drama

It’s a girl! In spite of Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna‘s stunning social media messages revealing their split on Saturday, December 17, the show must go on. The pre-taped Rob & Chyna Baby Special aired on December 18 and brought drama all its own!

Read Us Weekly‘s recap below for all the details. And be sure to start at the bottom to get it in chronological order.

9:00 p.m. ET: Even Kim Kardashian FaceTimed in to say hi, giving Us one of the first peaks we’ve had of her since she went into a social media blackout after getting robbed in Paris! Rob noted how much it meant to him to have his family around, even though he had been distant from them for so long.

Last but not least, Chyna’s son with Tyga, 4-year-old King Cairo Stevenson, met his baby sister. Could it have been any cuter? We don’t think so!

8:58 p.m. ET: “I think watching your babies have babies is extraordinary. Through all the ups and downs and everything these two have been through, they’ve overcome a lot of odds, and hopefully this will be the start of a great new beginning,” Kris gushed to the camera. That was a cute hope while it lasted, huh, Kris?

Next, Rob’s sister Khloé Kardashian stopped by to congratulate the happy couple and squeal over how cute the newest Kardashian was. As she did that, Rob joked that Dream was trending on Twitter, but that people were making fun of her name and that maybe they should change it quickly.

8:55 p.m. ET: We got to see baby Dream, and she looked perfect to Us!

In Rob’s words, she was “pretty cool.”

8:54 p.m. ET: The next scene was a home video from Kris, who filmed Chyna as Rob held her hand and the doctors performed the C-section.

“You’re doing so well, Angela,” Kris cooed, using Chyna’s given name. (Obviously, the baby was born before complaints were filed to block Chyna from trademarking the name Angela Renee Kardashian.)

8:50 p.m. ET: Kris and Toni were all giggles as Chyna cried, and eventually she came around to laughing and being cheerful, too.

8:46 p.m. ET: Next thing we knew, Rob and Chyna were in the car on the way to the hospital. They held hands the whole way there, but when they arrived, Chyna looked afraid and emotional. As the nurses got her into her gown and hospital bed, she began to cry.

8:45 p.m. ET: “I know Rob a little bit,” Toni said as she told Kris she could be in the room. “He’ll want his mom.”

Kris said that Toni letting her be the one grandmother in the room was “heartwarming,” “selfless” and “an olive branch.”

8:44 p.m. ET: Next came the big meeting between Toni and Kris. Rob, Chyna and both moms talked about the delivery room plans, and Toni and Kris seemed to put the past behind them and get along. When Kris called the doctor to finalize the plans they decided on, though, she was told only one grandmother could be present for Dream’s birth.

It was up to Chyna to pick which one could come in.

8:40 p.m. ET: Chyna ruined Rob’s excitement by breaking the news that her doctor had told her she would have to have a C-section, dashing his hopes that she’d have a vaginal birth.

Rob was worried that would make it harder for her to have more kids with him, but in light of recent events, that doesn’t strike Us as a big problem anymore.

8:37 p.m. ET: Chyna FaceTimed Kris again to show her the nursery. Rob was excited about it, too, saying, “I can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait to bring my baby home to this beautiful nursery!”

8:31 p.m. ET: In contrast to Rob’s calm demeanor, Tokyo Toni wasn’t being particularly chill when it came to the prospect of seeing Kris in the coming days. When Chyna asked her to be nice during their inevitable meeting, Toni insisted that when someone offends her, she will “handle” them no matter what.

Well, that can’t be good.

8:30 p.m. ET: After her big party, Chyna went out to eat with Rob. He told her that he wasn’t going to stress out anymore about where they were going to live after Dream was born. He swore to her they’d take it day by day.

8:27 p.m. ET: Chyna was doing her own bonding at her baby shower. Rob lamented that his family was in Paris for a fashion show, but Chyna was perfectly happy hanging out with her friends and family.

8:26 p.m. ET: As Chyna stressed, Scott Disick came over to chat with Rob about Chyna’s desire to get a C-section. Scott wasn’t the only one hanging out with Rob in the final days before he became a dad, either; he and his friends went to a shooting range to bond before the big delivery day.

8:23 p.m. ET: Chyna was really worried about her mom and Kris meeting for the first time since Toni attacked the momager on social media for letting her then-17-year-old daughter Kylie date Chyna’s ex. Chyna revealed that her mom’s social media rants stress her out. (Timely, right? Toni went on a rant about Chyna and Rob’s breakup today…)

8:19 p.m. ET: Chyna got a sonogram of what would soon be her baby, and then she FaceTimed Kris Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian to show off the photos. Clearly, they were on good terms. Later, Chyna’s own mom, Tokyo Toni, came over with a bunch of friends, and Chyna revealed that Kris, Toni and Rob would be in the delivery room.

Considering Toni and Kris had some major drama back in the day after Kylie Jenner got with Chyna’s baby daddy, Tyga, that was a risky choice …

8:14 p.m. ET: The special started with Rob and Chyna debating whether they should deliver Dream Kardashian via C-section or not, and talking about how they would decorate her room. They argued a little about where they would end up living after the baby came, but it didn’t reach “Are you still texting bitches, yes or no?” levels by any means.

“Since you guys last seen us, we kinda been chillin’ out,” Chyna explained to the camera. She noted that the fighting that viewers of Rob & Chyna had come to expect in every episode was all but over now that they’d improved their communication. (According to their individual Snapchat and Instagram accounts last night, though, that’s not true.)

8 p.m. ET: A moment of joy amid plenty of tension! The Rob & Chyna Baby Special airs on E! Sunday, December 18, a day after Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna‘s split drama on social media, and Us Weekly is following all the details of baby Dream’s birth in our live blog! Be sure to refresh this post throughout the episode for by-the-minute updates.

The timing of the special — which includes King Cairo’s epic birthday bash and Dream’s arrival — is not exactly ideal, coming a day after Kardashian, 29, posted on Snapchat that fiancée Chyna, 28, had moved out, taking their newborn daughter and the items from the nursery with her.

“I’ve got the Christmas tree all set up for Chyna and the baby but they left me. … So I get home and Chyna took the baby, took the whole nursery we built,” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians mainstay said. “And Chyna took everything that we built for the nursery for the baby Dream and she left, and she just left me alone and took the baby.”

The season finale of the pair’s eight-episode series Rob & Chyna aired on October 16 and included Chyna taking a paternity test to prove to the Arthur George sock designer that he is indeed the father of their baby. (She gave birth to their first child, Dream, on November 10.)
