Rock of Ages' Russell Brand is ready to rock the MTV Movie Awards!

Having hosted the Video Music Awards in 2008 and 2009, the 36-year-old comic will soon emcee the network's Movie Awards, MTV confirmed Thursday.

"This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than The Avengers and you won't have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out," Katy Perry's ex husband tells Us Weekly of the show, which will air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif., June 3.

Brand follows in the footsteps of previous MTV Movie Awards hosts Jason Sudeikis, Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake.

Honoring buzzy box office hits like Bridesmaids, The Descendants and My Week With Marilyn, the MTV Movie Awards will hand out golden popcorn trophies in categories including Best Kiss, Best On-Screen Dirtbag and of course Movie of the Year.

The 2012 Movie Awards air live on MTV June 3.
