Not quite the heartfelt message we’ve come to expect on Mother’s Day. On Sunday, May 10, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to post a new image of his antihero character Deadpool.
In the shot, Deadpool is holding a newborn baby in one hand and has a thumbs up in the other. Next to him is a doctor and a woman with her legs up who had just given birth.
“#Deadpool: A motherf—er since 1991. #happymamasday,” Reynolds, 38, captioned the image.
The sassy Marvel character was first created in 1991 as a super villain, but he since evolved into an antihero. Reynolds (a new dad in real life to daughter James, 4 months) is set to play the back-talking fighter in the new film, which has a February 2016 release date.
This is the second time Blake Lively’s husband is trying his hand at playing a comic book hero. In 2011, he starred as the Green Lantern alongside his future bride in the panned film.
