Sandra Bullock made a surprise appearance Tuesday at the Nashville Rising concert for flood relief.

The crowd went crazy as Bullock, 45, walked on stage to introduce Faith Hill, wife of her Blind Side costar Tim McGraw.

“They say a community is only as strong as its weakest link,” Bullock told the crowd, according to the Tennessean. “And from where I stand, I see no weak links.”

Bullock said when McGraw approached her about participating in the benefit, it was a no-brainer.

Initially, she said she thought, "I'll have a wardrobe malfunction or do something interesting. But when they told me how much you all contributed, I realized I had to do more than be funny. So, I’m going to contribute some music and do it Nashville style.”

She then pulled up a stool, whipped out an acoustic guitar across her lap and tried to play Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water.”

“If I could have some quiet, please,” she joked. See the top 10 celebrity bands.

After a few bars, Bullock confessed she couldn't play and introduced Hill, whom she described as “disgustingly beautiful” and “extraordinary."

The benefit -- which also featured Toby Keith, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes and Miley Cyrus, among others -- raised more than $2 million. See more photos from the benefit.

Haha. I enjoy young'uns getting upset or critical about older women, and men, who are much lovelier than they will ever be, even in their finest hour. Yay for anyone's "siren look" (whatever), particularly if it pisses off homely young girls - and insecure guys - with bad attitudes.

I would have been there, because I love what this couple does. they always help people and the singers volunteered.

every singer at this concert did it for free, they were not paid.

I have been a Tim and Faith fan for years and I know they are adding to the money they raised for Nashville relief because that is who they are. they always lend a hand when it is needed. all the entertainers sang for free.there were 19 and all of them never got paid,it was all volunteer to help the area.

Ann you make a great point! Im tire of these celebs helping every other country but their own. I can drive into LA and see poverty 10 min from Beverly Hills. Its sad but I tend to think some do it more for press than actual good.

  • June 23, 2010 - 5:34pm New "siren" look

I agree with the post about she is trying a bit too hard at her new siren look, BUT the hair is so much better long and softly curled. I thought she had looked awful since after Ms Congeniality. I would guess she wants to show Jesse he gave up a hot lady?

I've no problem with Tim, Faith, or Sandra. At least they did something but for these rich country singers to raise only 2-3 million is pathetic. Considering the record labels, promoters, producers, ect. in the music business a couple of million is pathetic. Combine this with the two mil raised during the telethon and it barely reaches $5 mil. Hell, LeAnn Rimes is worth millions and millions but all she did was sing 2 songs and leave town with her luv-bug Eddie. Country music singers love to tug at the heartstrings but they won't open their wallets to the people who made them rich.

Sandra is such a sweetie. It is nice to hear the good things about people.

  • June 23, 2010 - 3:33pm Good cause. Poor Nashville was so neglected during their time of need

I felt sorry for Nashville. Right before, there was some tragedy (of the day), somewhere and right afterward the BP Oil Spill and that's where all the focus has been. I hope Tim and Faith, with the the help of Sandra were able to raise money. Never been to Nashville, but it's on my bucket list. Hopefully, the Grand ole Opry will be up and running.

We only raised $2 million while we raised over $50 million for other countries. Please America, this is our Home!

Kittie6, You seem to be self absorbed and unaware of life as a whole. Age is more then some number people put on each other. The naivity of a your statement only reflects your lack of compassion for others and your complete selfishness.

She just rocks- she is so funny and laid back and classy, way to go Sandra. You rule.

I am really getting tired of hearing about Sandra Bullock, although I'm sure she is a very nice person. On another note, why would a 45-year-old woman with a busy career adopt an infant?? I don't get it.

  • June 23, 2010 - 11:50am Vera

Such a wonderful woman! She is just awesome!
