Though some football fans aren't exactly excited for Bruno Mars' Half Time show at this year's Super Bowl, Saturday Night Live invited viewers to consider a slightly scary and hilarious alternative during its opening skit on Feb. 1.

In the skit, Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers were rerouted due to the ominous Polar Vortex, leaving Broadway actors and musicians to perform a musical number during Half Time.

The comical number featured SNL veteran Taran Killam played Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, dancing his way to a Super Bowl victory with the help of host Melissa McCarthy as his mentor "Mama Pass."

But fellow SNL star Kenan Thompson, playing controversial Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, attempts to destroy Manning's chances at victory while tap dancing across the stage and wearing a straw hat.

The skit was the perfect way to open the show the night before the Super Bowl, and kicked off McCarthy's third time hosting SNL
