Sean Lowe, Catherine Giudici Explain Why So Few Bachelor Couples Get Married

The Lowe down! Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici recently stopped by Us Weekly‘s New York City headquarters and dished on everything from Lowe’s new book For the Right Reasons to why so few married couples come out of The Bachelor

While on the 17th season of The Bachelor, the Texas native, 31, met and fell in love with his now-wife Giudici, 28. She accepted his marriage proposal in the March 2013 season finale after Lowe let runner-up Lindsay Yenter go. The happy twosome exchanged vows in January 2014, and celebrated their one-year anniversary with a trip to Santa Barbara, Calif. last month.

“The most important thing I learned in our first year of marriage is that Catherine’s always right and I’m usually wrong,” Lowe told Us, inspiring a quick laugh and response of “Oh, whatever!” from Giudici.

While the lovebirds were able to find a happy marriage on the show, they are one of just a few couples who have tied the knot after the final rose was bestowed upon the winner.

“It makes perfect sense!” Lowe said of the small number of successful Bachelor couples. “You spend just a small amount of time with that person before getting engaged, which sounds nuts. I still can’t believe that we got engaged at the end of that thing.”

“You leave the show, you get into the real world and find out like, ‘Oh, crap! Being in a relationship isn’t always easy and it actually takes work,'” Lowe continued as Giudici joked, “And who is this person?”

“Yeah, and who is this person!” Lowe added, echoing his wife’s words. “That’s not who I thought she was.”

Following in the great tradition of many other failed Bachelor couples, former Bachelorette Andi Dorfman and her pick Josh Murray surprised fans last month when they announced that they were calling off their engagement and splitting up. The news broke just days after Dorfman and Murray hit the red carpet for the premiere of season 19 of The Bachelor, and appeared to be happy together.

“We were at the premiere of the newest Bachelor with Andi and Josh,” Giudici explained. “We were on the red carpet with them, I was hanging out with Andi, he was hanging out with Josh. We were just, you know, talking about everything cause we’re all friends… It was so strange. The timing of it couldn’t have been weirder. Right after the Bachelor premiere where they showed up like that.”

“I was asking Josh if they were planning their wedding!” Sean noted. “They probably shouldn’t have done that red carpet.”

Giudici and Lowe, who have been tuning in to the latest season and live-tweeting as Chris Soules attempts to find love in his group of women, also spilled to Us about who they would pick for Prince Farming. Find out why Lowe was pulling for “the crazy one” and if the couple will ever do another reality show in the video above!
