The winner of Dancing With the Stars season 16 is … Kellie Pickler!
Finishing in first place with her partner, Derek Hough, the country singer edged out the second place finishers, Disney actress Zendaya and partner Val Chmerkovskly.
Coming in third place was Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones with his partner, Karina Smirnoff. Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman and her partner, Mark Ballas, finished in fourth place.
The "Someone Somewhere Tonight" singer, 26, was clearly in shock when she and Hough were announced as the winners.
"Oh my God!" she said, as Hough embraced her. "This is amazing, oh my God!"
Pickler, who appeared on the fifth season of American Idol, is the very first Idol competitor to be on DWTS. She's the fourth singer to win the coveted Mirror Ball trophy — joining past musical winners Drew Lachey, Donny Osmond and Nicole Scherzinger.
Pickler and Hough had a combined team score of 94 after both nights of competition. Although Zendaya and Chmerkovskly had a total score of 95, the judges' scores were then combined with fan votes to crown a winner.
The "Shake It Up" actress showed no hard feelings about coming in second place behind Pickler.
"I'm very proud and I'm very happy," Zendaya said. "It was an amazing experience."
Hough dedicated the win to Pickler's grandfather, Grandpa Ken, who Pickler credits for convincing her to join the dancing show in the first place and was happily in the audience.
"I never thought I'd do this show," she told Us Weekly on Monday, May 20, after night one of the finale. "Part of me wanted to, but I was honestly scared to. My grandpa talked me into doing it. It's his favorite show — and he wanted me to have Derek as a partner! I'm kind of nervous that whoever wins tomorrow night, my grandpa might run out there and snatch the Mirror Ball trophy anyway!"
Pickler said she couldn't have been happier about her journey on the show.
"I hope this doesn't sound weird but I'm proud of myself for stepping outside of my comfort zone because this wasn't easy for me to do," she explained.
