Michael Scott is tendering his letter of resignation.

Steve Carell has confirmed that he's leaving The Office following the 2010-2011 season.

"Yes, it will be my last" season, Carell told UsMagazine.com at Sunday's Despicable Me premiere in Hollywood.

"It's the last on my contract, and I want to honor my contract." The NBC hit is expected to continue in his absence.

The 47-year-old star explained, "I am excited -- just so I can spend more time with my family." He and his wife Nancy have two kids: Elisabeth Anne, 9, and John, 6.

Carell became a comic star in 2005 when he debuted as Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott on The Office, an American adaptation of the British original. He won a Golden Globe award and garnered 4 Emmy nominations for the role.

"I'm sure I'm going to be very nostalgic" when he wraps up filming, Carell added Sunday. "I mean, these are some of my best friends in the world! But it will be good -- it will be good for everybody."
