It just takes some time! In a new Apple Music commercial released on Monday, April 18, Taylor Swift relives her middle school days by rocking out to early-aughts rock band Jimmy Eat World.
In the ad, the pop superstar, 26, gets pumped for a night out on the town with the help of a throwback playlist titled “Jukebox Hits: ’00s Alternative Rock.”
“Oh my God, I love this song!” T. Swift exclaims when she scrolls her finger across Jimmy Eat World’s 2001 hit “The Middle.” “I used to listen to this in middle school.”
As soon as the song starts to play, an excited Swift can’t help but dance around her bathroom, tossing her hair as she lip syncs into a tube of her signature red lipstick.
This 60-second spot is the second Apple Music ad the “New Romantics” singer has starred in in less than a month. On April 1, the tech giant shared Swift’s first video endorsement for their streaming service — a hilarious clip of the Grammy winner rapping so hard on a treadmill to Drake and Future’s hip-hop jam “Jumpman” that she falls to the ground.
As previously reported, the relationship between Swift and Apple Music has come a very long way. Prior to her participation in the company’s new ad campaign, the former country artist publicly expressed her disappointment in the streaming service by writing an open letter published on June 21, 2015.
"I'm sure you are aware that Apple Music will be offering a free 3 month trial to anyone who signs up for the service. I’m not sure you know that Apple Music will not be paying writers, producers, or artists for those three months,” she penned. “I find it to be shocking, disappointing, and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company."
Swift’s heated message caused Apple to immediately amend their policy. Apple Music is currently the only online streaming service — sorry, Spotify and Tidal! — to offer Swift’s catalog of hits. The company exclusively premiered her 1989 World Tour Live concert special back in December.
