Taylor Swift has cleaned up at every major awards show for the last year and a half, but it looks like her streak is coming to an end — for the moment, at least. On Sunday, April 3, after winning multiple honors at the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards, including Album of the Year, the “New Romantics” singer offered what might be her last acceptance speech for a while.
“Guys! I want to thank everyone at iHeart for putting on this amazing evening … I want to thank all the radio stations who played the songs on 1989. I never dreamed of having that many No. 1s,” she began. “This is probably my last awards show for a while.”
With that in mind, the 26-year-old hitmaker sent a heartfelt message to some of the most important people in her life: her family.
“I just want to say, I know my mom and dad and brother are watching. And my most vivid memory of growing up is my mom and dad telling me that I was different and unique and special and that I could do whatever I wanted with my life,” she said. “So, parents, tell your kids every day that they’re different, they’re unique, they can do whatever they want with their lives.”
Earlier in the night, Swift gave an equally sweet shout-out to her boyfriend, Calvin Harris. Accepting the Best Tour award, she said, “For the first time, I had the most amazing person to come home to when the spotlight went out and the crowds were all gone. So I want to thank my boyfriend Adam for that.”
As a source exclusively told Us Weekly last September, “Taylor always calls Calvin by his birth name, Adam [Wiles], and never Calvin in private. Taylor gets all dressed and glammed up whenever she is going to see him to look her best.”
She certainly looked glam on Sunday. Arriving at The Forum in Inglewood, California, Swift sizzled in a black sequined Saint Laurent jumpsuit, paired with Giuseppe Zanotti heels, Vhernier earrings and a pave band by Melinda Maria jewelry.
