Taylor Swift's Out of Tune 2010 Grammy Performance Defended by Label

The CEO of Taylor Swift's record label is coming to her defense after the singer hit a few off notes during her duet with Stevie Nicks at 2010's Grammy Awards.
Swift, 20, earned more attention for her performance than her four Grammy wins (including Album of the Year) after The New York Times called her "pitch-challenged" and the Washington Post slammed her voice as "off-key caterwauling."

Borchetta first spoke out to The Tennessean.
He said Swift's voice was off because, "We had a volume problem in the ear. So, she was concerned that she wasn't able to hear everything in the mix... That's just part of live TV... You're going to have difficulties on occasion."

"Maybe she's not the best technical singer, but she's probably the best emotional singer because everybody else who gets up there and is technically perfect, people don't seem to want more of it," he added. "She's an extraordinary songwriter and her vocal performances are getting better. Everybody is not perfect on any given day."

How in the world can you justify or condone Taylor Swift's "singing?" When I hear Mary J Blige sing a song, I feel like I am listening to someone sing who wrenches your guts out of you. When she was recently on Oprah, she sang a song with Andrea Pacelli (What Child Is This?). Even Oprah couldn't contain herself; neither could the audience. You were uplifted into another dimension. These girls, such as Brittney, Taylor, and all the rest of the "little voices" who can barely talk, let alone sing, make their money because someone is bankrolling their careers. It certainly has nothing to do with "talent."
It's a well known FACT here in Music City that Taylor's daddy bankrolled her entire "career", her awards prove ONE thing, they can be bought! She sold a lot of albums because her father created the hype and teenagers are basically sheep--they will buy what we tell them is HOT, regardless of whether its good. What's good about it, the singing along to her horrible voice on the radio! It drowns out Taylor Swifts complete lack of range, inability to hit a note and just makes for fun car karoke! She's a joke in this town. NO ONE with any real music talent respects her, she is never going to thrive and make real albums with songs that are sung rather than talked and she can't do anything past puberty related material. 15 minutes are UP!
I do not think that Taylor is a good songwriter. The songs she has written were decent, but all of them are about the same thing, like the old teenybopper movies. Girl or Guy dreams to be with another at the end boy or girl gets what she wants. @ Juanita- No, Beyonce nor Jay Z we on the remake of We Are The World; however, they performed during the help for Haiti and they have donated money to the cause. Please know the facts before you make a statement. Okay, now back to Swift. I am a huge Beyonce fan, but I think Pink, Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas where more deserving of some the Grammys. Kanye knew exactly what he was talking about he just has horrible timing. I would never want to sit during one of Taylors live performances it seems so boring and bland.
Also, songs that people can relate to is what sells, so I'd advise you all to learn about the music biz . . .
I think Taylor Swift's new version of "You Belong With Me" was better than the first one because it's got a perky thing to it. Kanye West gladly didn't ruin her award acceptance. Thank GOD!!! Anyway, I think she deserved it. Her songs are AMAZING her voice is AMAZING and her ability to play the guitar is AMAZING no matter what anybody says. She's not overated and she could use some vocal lessons but only to help her learn the high notes but even I need that help. Everyone can't be perfect.
I can not for the life of me understand how this young lady is winning all of these rewards. Yes, she can write a few good tunes, but people please, do you really think that she has a good voice. No, she does not. There are so many more artist out there that deserve the awards that she has and is receiving because they can actually sing. There are country artist that have been in the business for years that deserve to be reconized for their talents and yet they get ignored and the awards go to someone with a lot less talent. People open you ears and listen to the artist with the real talent and give them the credit they deserve.

I'm so relieved everyone can finally see what Kanye was saying at the VMA's. Nice girl, sweet person; [maybe] a good songwriter [maybe]. A singer she is NOT!!! Technical problems can not explain ALL of her terrible Live performances, give me a break. Unfortunately, everyone threw her a pity party after the Kanye incident & bestowed awards upon her that she ABSOLUTELY did Not deserve!!!! CMA best artist, Grammy best vocalist, on and on. I don't understand how people think she is so deserving of all these awards. She sings horribly. Her label stated that the poor performance was because of her ear piece. Then why does she sound horrible in all her performances? She may be a great writer, but she cannot sing and needs to stick to what she can do. It's funny to me that there are singers that can actually sing (i.e. Carrie Underwood, etc.) and yet all the awards go to a singer that can only sing when her voice has been altered in the recording studio. She may be a great person, but NOT deserving of these awards based on her singing talent...only her writing talent.
Taylor Swift has no talent what-so-ever! Both her and her songs are pathetic. All she ever sings about is how some boy doesn't like her or notice her.BOO-HOO! She got to sing a REAL song with a REAL singer of talent (Stevie Nicks) and totally made herself look stupid. The girl just CAN'T sing!! Music today just pisses me off.

Why in the world that the entire population only noticed now at the Grammy and started saying something that truly Taylor Swift is not a singer, was never, and will never be one. Is it her typical blondie looks and descent that the media commercilaized and the moneymakers invested their time, energy and money into versus real talents and skills of deserving non-typical mainstream American girl. This is Grammy's greatest error in history......awarding someone with great honors who can show nothing but anything below mediocre and low standards of singing and performance that communicates only to certain class of people who buy into her class and looks. She is all...out of tune, bad pitch, poor voice quality, cannot harmonize, cannot write decent songs (let alone Grammy item type of songs) but only cutie sweetie nonsense lyrics, unoriginal, not classic, and non-innovative but mundane and only overated, indeed. So why the hype of even defending her when people speaks the truth and with acurateness? I am glad people finally opened up their eyes and ears and accepted what I have known from the very beginning when I first heard her sing and I didn't even know her....she sounded absolutely annoying and horrible, unfit to render something in public and be ridiculously idolize...she will not even pass initial screening audition of American Idol,,,,she will be laugh at by audience and the judges on AI. Overrated for sure. And she did not take part in the 25th Anniversary rendition of We Are the World to help children in Haiti and to honor Michael Jackson . Yet she won the award that may have gone to him -best performer of the year. Others nominated were also much better than she. Money changes hands? Consolation prize for being wounded by Kanye West? She needs to on on her skinny knees and thank Kanye. PS Lionel Richie said of her, Lady Gaga and Byonece, JayZ-all refused to take part in the song, and were in the area."One day they will regret not taking part. Was Beyonce told by her husband to whom she will kiss his butt for marrying her -not to perform? I have lost respect for all of them. Lady Gaga And I thought Skinny butt TAylor Swift were fans of Michael Jackson. And not caring that the proceeds were going to help children i Haiti tells me more about these phonies. I hate Kanye West, not because he humilated her but because he exposed her to the general public. Taylor sucks and hopefully her Grammy wins will have the dumb world open their eyes to see that she sucks.

EVERYONE makes mistakes and i think its cool to know she does too and why did she get picked over beyonce and why does she have so many grammys bc we all love her music buy her cd's ect so instead of gripeing about how aweful she is just quit promoting her it wouldnt really matter if u did bc ur children will b asking for her cd for christmas n if u say no ur child would b practically the only kid that didnt have it. I know how my daughter is she'd be really upset if her friends all had her favorite cd and her mom and dad wouldnt get her one...
Nice to see no one on this site is drinking the Swift kool-aid. Taylor better thank Joe Jonas for dumping her and Kanye for humiliating her, cause those 2 are the only reason alot of people even know she exists. I don't hate Taylor. I think she is very talented at writing catchy songs. But she is a bad singer. She should be a songwriter, not a singer. Either way she's severely overrated and I'm glad to see people are waking up and not praising her like they spent all of 2009 doing.
I think she is AWFUL and overrated but I will say that I think she does deserve some awards becasue she sell out every show (Entertainer of the year at the CMA's) and her albums are number one - regardless of her talent, she sells - BUT - and this is a very big BUT - to award her vocal awards like the grammy and CMA etc. is a slap in the face to the powerhouse voices shes been nominated and won against who actually make you want to here them live again
Taylor Swift should be ashamed to ever show her on stage again.........It was sadly not the first time and obviously won't be the last......She's a laughing stock here......even on the radio........It's gotten to where its actually so funny to look forward to seeing her make a dumb fool out of herself on everything she is on..........Someone said she was considered for the national anthem at the Super Bowl...............thankfully the NFL wanted someone who would not mess it up............so they chose Carrie...........thank God in Heaven.............Taylor is awful............I'm so thankful for buttons on my radio........because I used them every time I hear her teeny bopping catawalling on my radio..........
