Attention all Shamy fans! The reunion you’ve been waiting all season for finally happened on Thursday, Dec. 10. After Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) broke up with Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) in the Season 8 finale last May, fans have been not-so-patiently waiting throughout Season 9 for the pair to reunite.
Things were looking grim after the Nov. 19 Thanksgiving episode, when Amy and Sheldon had a difficult confrontation after their aquarium date — where Amy asked Sheldon to get back together, but her neurotic ex, fearing more heartbreak, refused.
Destroyed all over again in last night’s episode, Amy distracted herself with Dave (Stephen Merchant), a formerly awkward date that she had previously sworn off. Meanwhile, Sheldon was plagued by an “earworm” and couldn’t figure out where the tune he’d been humming had originated.
Finally, he realized the song was The Beach Boys’ “Darlin,” which reminded him of Amy. Noting that her love softens him, just like the lyrics in the song, Sheldon declared, “She’s like the dryer sheets of my heart!” and rushed out the door.
Bursting in on Amy and Dave’s date, Sheldon declared his love for her, saying he wants to be her boyfriend again. Naturally, she accepted (with some urging from the Sheldon-obsessed Dave), and the pair happily made out.
