The First ‘Ghostbusters’ Trailer Is Finally Here!

Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters director Paul Feig stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, March 3, to premiere the first trailer for the all-female reboot of the classic ‘80s film.

In the trailer (set to a remix of the iconic Ghostbusters theme song), funny ladies Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon take on New York City’s growing ghost epidemic. Navigating their way through Manhattan in an updated version of the famous Ecto-1 hearse, the spirit-fighting girl squad do their best to fend off “amplified paranormal” activity — with comedic flair, of course.

“I’m privileged. I get to work with the funniest women on the planet, including yourself,” Feig, 53, told DeGeneres about casting the comediennes. “When I was putting this together I said, ‘I have lists of people who make me laugh and I have one list of people that make me cry with laughter.’ And so if I’m doing Ghostbusters, I gotta pull out the heavy guns. These four women are just so funny and it’s really an honor.”

Feig further highlighted each actress’ individual talent at a Ghostbusters fan event on Wednesday, March 2. “Kristen’s kind of this vulnerable comedian, and then Melissa, she’s just a headstrong comedian, and then you got Kate, who’s just the weirdo nut who just, anything comes out — it’s like, ‘Where did that come from?’” Feig said during a Q&A. “And then Leslie is just this powerhouse who comes at you, and the four just mix so well and it was really fun even just figuring out what role they were gonna play, and so their chemistry is great.”

Despite its hilarious leading ladies, the movie won’t just serve up laughs. In the preview, we see that the film will deliver a delicious dose of eye candy — in the form of a nerdy Chris Hemsworth, who plays a receptionist for the new group of Ghostbusters.

The original Ghostbusters movie was released in 1984 and starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Davis, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver.

Watch the trailer for its revival above. Ghostbusters hits theaters July 15.
