Josh Charles is returning to TV following his exit from The Good Wife with a guest role on Showtime's Masters of Sex.

Will Gardner, back on TV? Well, sort of — the actor who plays the late Good Wife character is, at least. Josh Charles is returning to television for a recurring role in season 3 of Showtime’s period drama Masters of Sex, the network announced May 5.

The season-long arc will feature Charles as Daniel Logan, a “self-made businessman working in the scent industry” who wants to “bottle the smell of sex and market an aphrodisiac to the general public,” according to the network’s press release, and seeks out Michael Sheen and Lizzie Caplan‘s human sexuality experts William Masters and Virginia Johnson.

Season 3 will take place in 1966 as the duo’s sex study is finally revealed to the public, and sparks the Sexual Revolution. The series is based on the real-life work of Masters and Johnson as documented in the book Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the Couple Who Taught America How to Love.

After Charles’ popular lawyer/love interest to Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) was shockingly killed off of The Good Wife in 2014, he has appeared in a handful of Inside Amy Schumer sketches. The actor will also costar in Netflix’s upcoming Wet Hot American Summer prequel series, but his Masters of Sex role marks his return to television on a semi-regular basis.
