Actor John Dye -- who played angel of death Andrew on Touched By an Angel -- passed away on Monday.
The 47-year-old Hollywood veteran suffered a fatal heart attack in San Francisco, his brother, Jerre Dye, told Memphis, Tenn. paper The Commercial Appeal.
Making his Hollywood debut in the 1984 flick Making the Grade, the Mississippi-born Dye landed his recurring role on CBS' Touched by an Angel in 1995 -- becoming a series regular in the third season and remaining on the show until its 2003 finale.
The star's other TV credits included Murder, She Wrote and Promised Land; his final film role was in 2007's Fist of the Warrior.
Tweeted Angel costar Valerie Bertinelli: "Dear, sweet John Dye, rest in Peace."
Dye is survived by brothers Jerre and Jamey; father James; and a grandmother, Irene Duvall.
