Live Recap: UnREAL, Season 2 Episode 7

UnREAL panel with Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman — a.k.a. Jay!

Posted by Us Weekly Video on Tuesday, July 19, 2016

UnREAL’s July 18 episode marked a return to the series’ dark and supremely intense tone, and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and his costars were ready for it. “We were really looking forward to getting back to that general tone, because that’s what makes UnREAL what it is.” Bowyer-Chapman, 31, told Us Weekly Video in a Facebook Live session on Tuesday, July 19, “Now that we’re back to that dark, gutting, biting tone, it feels familiar to us. Uncomfortable, but familiar.”

Bowyer-Chapman, who plays producer Jay on the Lifetime series, sat down with Us Weekly Video correspondent Christina Garibaldi and Us Weekly Video executive producer Kim Rittberg for our UnREAL panel to talk about last night’s episode. Plus, he dished about Constance Zimmer’s improv skills, Shiri Appleby’s solo workouts in her trailer and which of Rachel’s two men — Adam or Coleman — should win her damaged heart.

With Rachel’s current dating predicament, we had to know if Bowyer-Chapman was on Team Adam or Team Coleman. His answer: “I’m Team Adam. I don’t know if it’s because I have a crush on Freddie Stroma, though.”

Although he says Zimmer (who plays executive producer Quinn King) is “one of the kindest human beings on the planet,” her harsh roles intimidate real fans. “It works to our advantage sometimes. We’re sitting in restaurants, people want to come up and say hi, but they are a little bit scared of her. So they’re really quick and respectful.” He also shared that Zimmer improvises some of her lines. “It’s just Constance being quippy and hilarious,” he told Us Weekly Video. “The writing on the show is genius, but luckily they trust us with these characters to have some freedom with it.”

The Dirty Grandpa star also dished that Appleby does Tracy Anderson workouts on the floor of her trailer before filming. And he said her fitness regimen doesn’t stop there: “In between each take, she’s doing these crazy arm things. Just Shiri being Shiri.”
