Walking Dead Actress Katelyn Nacon: It “Was So Fun” to Pull a Gun on Glenn

She’s back! Katelyn Nacon’s Enid disappeared after the Wolves attacked Alexandria on The Walking Dead a few weeks ago, but just like Glenn (Steven Yeun), her mysterious character turned up alive on Sunday’s episode, and was actually the one to come across him still breathing and with his innards intact.

But their reunion was hardly heartwarming: The former pizza deliveryman had to chase Enid down to give her a fatherly talk about returning home to Alexandria, and the teen pulled a gun on the beloved survivor and dad-to-be. (Kids these days!) Serious stuff, but the 16-year-old actress tells Us Weekly that the latter was particularly exciting to film.

“Oh my god, it was really fun,” she exclaims about the scene where she took aim at Glenn. “It’s cool to pull a gun on someone ‘cause you don’t do that in everyday life.”

Nacon says that she was shown how to hold the gun properly so it’d be believable. “They have like, gun training stuff that you can go to, so I’ve done a few,” she tells Us of preparing for filming.

But aside from her personal excitement, Nacon says the episode, titled “Heads Up,” offered another look into Enid, who has been defensive and closed off for much of the season.

“Near the end of [the episode], you kind of saw her break a bit,” the actress says, referring to the scene showing the horde of zombies surrounding Alexandria’s walls. “It was kind of hard for her to see the walkers just completely swarm it ‘cause it was kind of a realization that yeah, this world is coming to an end.”

But more than that, Nacon says, “It kind of showed you that she’s not just all hardcore … she’s just really scared deep down.”

What the actress isn’t worried about is the finale, which Ross Marquand (who plays Aaron) previously teased to Us is “one of the craziest, most gut-wrenching episodes” he’d ever read. Nacon tells Us that everyone on set is incredibly excited for it. “They know what the end product is gonna be,” she says, noting that it’s going to be really “cool.”

What’s more, the Georgia native teases that fans probably aren’t going to be just relaxing on the couch as they watch the episodes leading up to the finale. Prepare to sit “on the edge of your seat,” she says, because cliffhangers are a comin’. “You’re gonna get that. Oh, it’s gonna happen.”

The Walking Dead’s midseason finale airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
