Watch Katie Holmes as "Slutty Pumpkin" on How I Met Your Mother

Katie Holmes sure knows how to get into the Halloween spirit!

On Monday's episode of CBS' How I Met Your Mother, Tom Cruise's wife suits up in her most festive holiday attire -- as a "Slutty Pumpkin" -- to woo Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor).

As this sneak preview clip shows, Holmes' character reunites with Ted after losing touch after a prior Halloween party. (He was dressed as "hanging chad" in a reference to the contested 2000 Presidential election.)

Shortly after Ted introduces her to Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), Holmes' character Naomi announces: "I'm gonna go make some Tootsie Rolls. It's a drink I invented. There's a song and dance that goes along with it, but I have to drink three of them before I can do it."

Without missing a beat, Barney wonders: "Sounds delicious in theory, but you never know until you taste it. Ted, have you tasted her Tootsie Roll?"

HIMYM co-creator Craig Thomas said the casting process for the role won by Holmes, 32, was "literally six seasons in the making," and he's thrilled with her work. "Katie is a lovely and talented actress," he says of the star. "Which is why we've saved for her perhaps the most classily named character in our show's history."
