Sometimes Lady Gaga is even better without the extravagant costumes and stage props.

Such was the case when the 25-year-old singer performed her latest single, "The Edge of Glory," on The Howard Stern Show Monday.

Describing the deeply personal track, Gaga (real name: Stefani Germanotta) told the radio host that "it's about knowing in your heart that you may never reach that glorious moment until you die, so live life on the edge, halfway between heaven and hell, and let's all dance in the middle in purgatory."
