Get ready to swoon! The new trailer for the buzzed-about Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone musical La La Land is out and after watching it, you’ll need a moment. It’s more “aww” inspiring than the best “Hey Girl” meme.
Set in modern-day Los Angeles — but styled as a 1950s musical — the film follows jazz pianist Sebastian (Gosling) and aspiring actress Mia (Stone) as they try to make their way in Hollywood and fall in love with each other over a series of chance meetings.
We see Mia endure an embarassing audition and Sebastian get fired on Christmas from his job as a lounge piano player, but there’s plenty of razzle-dazzle, too. A musical number set in a traffic jam and a few glimpses of Gosling and Stone dancing together is all we need: Get us tickets to this thing right now.
Check out Us Weekly’s review of La La Land from the Toronto Film Festival.
La La Land is the third film featuring Gosling and Stone as romantic leads, following up 2011’s Crazy, Stupid, Love and 2013’s Gangster Squad. In La La Land, the pair will evidently dance much more gracefully than that time they tried to re-create the Dirty Dancing lift in Crazy, Stupid, Love. While promoting that flick, Gosling joked that Stone's "body turned into a bag of rats” when he attempted to lift her. Looks like they figured out how to get it right this time.
La La Land opens on December 9, 2016.
