Whoaaaa, here he comes! Fans of the Walking Dead comic books have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Negan — arguably the series’ most diabolical villain — for weeks now. And though the AMC apocalyptic drama went on its winter hiatus after the Sunday, Nov. 29, episode, Negan will be waiting when The Walking Dead returns in February.
In a teaser promo for the second half of the season, Daryl (Norman Reedus), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) are driving down the road, minding their own business, when they happen upon a group of bikers brandishing weapons.
The leader of this biker tribe calmly asks the trio to get out of their truck, noting, “we will end your asses, split you right in two, straight through to the sinuses.”
Naturally, that provokes them to exit their vehicle, but things get a little hairy when the leather-clad biker then requests that they hand over their weapons, saying, “They’re not yours.”
The band of heroes is understandably confused by this statement and asks the man to elaborate.
“Your property now belongs to Negan,” he says — absolutely chilling to anyone who has ever read the Robert Kirkman-penned comics.
In the books, Negan is the leader of a group of survivors, who call themselves the Saviors. He notably kills Glenn Rhee within moments of meeting him, and after show favorite Glenn (Steven Yeun) barely survived this season on the TV series, fans are obviously wary of this new baddie.
Though we have not seen him on the screen yet, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast in the sadistic role, and it’s clear we’ll see him in February when the show returns.
