Weird Al Yankovic keeps working that magic! The master of parody released his fourth music video this week on Thursday, July 17, parodying Iggy Azalea's summertime anthem, "Fancy," in his latest work "Handy."
The video begins with a workshop filled with various handyman tools. Weird Al appears with a funky blonde wig and matching 'stache, while holding a wrench. "First things first I'm a craftsman," says Al to the tune of the hit. "Remodeling is my only passion. And I'm the greatest in the business. Want referrals, yo, my clientele will bare you witness."
Dressed in funky blue jeans, a white T-shirt, denim button-down vest, and with a toolset around his waist, Al sings in the first chorus: "I'm so handy, you already know. I'll fix your plumbing when your toilets overflow. I'm so handy, I'll bring you up to code. When your dishwasher's about to explode." He adds in the second chorus, "I'm so handy, everyone says so. I'll grout your bathroom. Resurface your patio. I'm so handy, I'm the guy to know. When your leaf-blower doesn't blow."
Yankovic has been creating large ripples across the Internet since he debuted his video for "Tacky," a parody of Pharrell Williams' "Happy" on Monday, July 14. The comedian went on to spoof Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" with "Word Crimes," and Lorde's "Royals" which he replaced with a rendition called "Foil."
Speaking with NPR last weekend, Yankovic said he used his middle school daughter to test whether he should spoof Azalea's song. "She is sort of my ears to the ground," he said of his girl. "A couple months ago I said, 'Are they talking about Iggy Azalea at school?' And she says, 'Well, not so much.' I asked the same thing two weeks later and she said, 'Oh yeah, that's all they're talking about now! They won't shut up about Iggy Azalea!' So, that was the tipping point. That's when I knew it was okay to do it."
