Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg Duke It Out to Be Top Pop in Daddy’s Home Trailer

It’s cool dad versus safe and boring stepdad in Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg’s new comedy, Daddy’s Home! The trailer premiered on Yahoo on Friday, June 19, and highlights scenes of the two men trying to one up each other in hilarious ways to win the affections of two children, Megan and Dylan — Brad’s (Ferrell) stepkids, who are Dusty’s (Wahlberg) biological spawn. Brad had been living an ideal life (or so he thought) with Sarah (Linda Cardinelli) and her two kids … until super sexy spec-ops agent Dusty reentered the picture.

Dusty seems to pull all the right moves (hello, $20 bribe, puppy, and awesome treehouse!), while Brad just ends up looking sillier the harder he tries to be suave. The trailer even features a scene where Ferrell, 47, hits a cheerleader in the face with a basketball!

That particular scene — and when Ferrell as Brad was thrown out of the stadium afterward — went viral during filming in January when cell phone videos of the incident spread like wildfire on the Internet. Apparently, some didn’t realize that the actor was there at a real Lakers versus Pelicans game in New Orleans filming Daddy’s Home, and were upset by his half-court shot gone very wrong.

“People thought I snuck — drunk — onto the basketball court,” Ferrell told Entertainment Tonight of the scene, which the cast and crew had only six minutes to film. “People wanted me sued for my actions. They didn’t realize that was a paid, professional stuntwoman I hit in the face with not a real ball.”
