Oscar Snubs: Most Overlooked Films, Stars and Shocking Losses in Academy Awards History

The Hollywood A-lister was famously not nominated for his portrayal of Jack Dawson in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic, even though the film went on to win Best Picture. (DiCaprio's costar Kate Winslet garnered a Best Actress nomination—but no Oscar.) Another noteworthy shutout came earlier in 1993 when he portrayed a mentally disabled boy in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. In his first nomination ever, he lost out to Tommy Lee Jones for The Fugitive for Best Supporting Actor.
