EXCLUSIVE: Dan Karaty to Join America's Got Talent
Tuesday August 5, 2008

Karaty – who has worked with the likes of Britney Spears and 'NSYNC - is set to bring his performance expertise to the #1 show on TV, NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Usmagazine.com can exclusively reveal. “I’m so excited about getting in there and working,” Karaty enthuses to Us. “The first couple seasons of [Talent] were amazing, but now we are taking the show to a whole new level. It’s going to be wonderful.” As the series gets ready to enter its Las Vegas round, Karaty – who will oversee all creative aspects associated with the performances – says the acts, which range from vocalists to contortionists to comedians and everything in between, will provide something all viewers can appreciate. “The dance acts on the show [especially] are unbelievable. I’m going to do what I’ve always done with groups like 'NSYNC and Britney Spears and [help] make them as great as I can. The routines will be like full-on Vegas productions!” And he’ll be drawing on his experiences on So You Think You Can Dance to do so. “[Like on] SYTYCD, [I’ll help] take those dancers and turn them into performers. It’s not just about dancing; it’s also about relating to the audience, working with the cameras and being on television, and that’s what I’m going to help them do. You’ll see me on stage, in rehearsals – everywhere.” However, SYTYCD fans need not worry, as Karaty – who last appeared on the U.S. version judging the top 20 contestants - confirms that he’ll still maintain a presence on the series. “What people don’t realize is that I have been doing the show, just in Holland and Canada, and the episodes don’t air until late September,” he explains. How does the dance talent elsewhere compare to Karaty’s home turf? “Holland has such a diverse group of people, and the hip-hop scene is insane!” he tells Us. “Those episodes will be everything [seen] on the U.S. show and more. [As for Canada], the top 20 there is going to be the strongest top 20 I’ve seen anywhere. And that’s not just a pitch – I mean it!” Join Us on Facebook and Twitter for even more up to the minute celebrity news and photos! |
