Exclusive! Dannielynn's 1st Birthday Party

In these exclusive photos, proud pop Larry Birkhead shows off his birthday girl to The Insider's Lara Spencer, with whom he talked about his
daughter's big day. (For the full interview, tune in to Monday's show. Check your local listings.)

Wearing a purple velvet crown with the number "1" on it, Dannielynn sat in a Barney highchair eating her multi-layered, half-chocolate, half-vanilla, castle-shaped cake at the bash, which took place Saturday, September 8 at the Louisville, Kentucky, home of socialite Tricia Barnstable Brown.

The nearly 200 guests feasted on pizza and pink lemonade. Other touches: An inflatable princess castle and two hot air balloons. The highlight for the birthday girl? A performance by the purple dinosaur himself.

On what he'd say to Anna Nicole about Dannielynn:
LB: "I would say, 'I hope you're proud of the way she's growing up and getting big.'"

On what he hopes to give Dannielynn for her 1st birthday:
LB: "Give her another happy day in life. I know she's not going to understand everything that's going on but just something that she can say one day, 'Wow, what a cool party, what a cool dad!'"

On if Dannielynn is starting to talk:
LB: "We've heard her say "da-da" a few times."

On keeping her mother and brother’s memories alive
LB: "I show her pictures all the time and I say, 'This is your mommy and this is your brother Daniel.' We talk about them all the time."

On whether she resembles her late brother Daniel:
LB: "Yeah, sometimes. Especially when she gets out of the bath and her hair is parted to the side like a little boy, she looks a lot like Daniel."

I can relate somewhat to Larry - I'm expecting a little girl next month and will be raising her by myself. Tough but it can be done!

Larry i really admire u for being such a terrific father to this baby u stepped up to the plate to be a father and good role model for this little girl and not everyone is man enough to do that. After all thats happened you and Danielynn are lucky to have each other and best of luck to you both.

Everyone needs to remeber that Danielynn is just an innocent baby and deserves the best.

I commend Larry Birkhead for stepping up to the plate, and being a father. That is more than I can say for most men in this world, these days. Not only does he devote himself to his daughter, but he is doing it very responsibly.

She is an adorable little girl, and I am so glad that she will grow up with her biological father. I am so glad to know that there was a wonderful ending to the tragic beginning to this story.

I dont think Larry is showing her off to much, and I love reading how well she is doing. This is a little girl who lost both her mother, and her brother under sad circumstances, and we all watched. If we can watch the bickering, trials, and heartaches, why cant we see the happy results of such a difficult time.

I am sure eventually Dannielynn will quietly grow into her own life, but for now, its nice to see her smile.

Anyone that can not understand the meaning and thoughfulness of Larry taking Dannilynn back to the place where her parents met is just plain crazy.
Although she might not remember. She will always be reminded and then she will have that connection with her parents. It's not just something that somone told her...it was recorded on tape and photos with those who really love her and it will fill that hole that she will feel when she has questions in the future that will have to be answered.

I am offended that US mag is contributing to the exploitation of this child. No child should be for sale. Danniellyn is not a celebrity but a victim of circumstances. She is only a baby and can not say no to what she is being exposed to. The way she is presented to the Public as a very controlled item for Sale borders on abuse. At the beginning of this Saga I felt we had to protect an underdog and rescue a baby. Now I question what the Public and Media and Father have done to this child. Recent events have called Mr. Birkhead motives into question, and increased my concern for her well being. I can only ask in the future Us mag will not exploit this child by paying for pictures. She is just a baby Who needs to grow up quietly in a loving home, protected from those who would use her.

I threw my son a HUGE 1st Birthday Party!! I knew that he would never remember it and told people that it's really for the parents. 1st Birthday's are wonderful and should mark a very special occasion!!! He's looked back at the pictures with VERY nice thoughts and a smile on his face that a parent would do so much for HIS memory! Yes, it is for their memory and life. Each year is a different chapter and should be cherished. What...Rebecca would say to not take a pic of the birth...the hospital ride home...the first bath...the first everything because the child doesn't remember...YOU my friend are a bitter, horrible woman and I hope that you are NOT a Mommy!
