Britney Spears’ pal Sam Lutfi says the singer’s mental problems stem from her parents, Lynne and Jamie.
“Oh boy, her family is crazy!” Lutfi told Usmagazine.com in a telephone interview Thursday, the same day the singer was taken to UCLA Medical Center. On Friday, Spears' parents hit L.A. Superior Court to seek to control their daughter's medical treatments.
“It's funny because that's what the doctors say when they meet the family," he added. "They always come back and say, ‘You know, [her problems] are inherited, right?’
“It’s just so sad. It's shared equally from both of her parents.”
He told Us the singer doesn’t “trust anything that her family says? Not a g----n thing.”
He said they have tried to stage multiple interventions and that Thursday's move was “at least their fourth” attempt.
When the singer heard Lynne had arrived Sunday night, Lutfi said Britney asked him, ‘Is my mom really here?’ I said, ‘Yeah, she's here.’ And she's like, ‘Oh great, you know they're up to something.’
“They show up to the house like hillbillies, texting me,” Lutfi continued. “I find out that they’re outside, and they go, ‘You better let me in the gate, you ass.’ So I go, to Britney, ‘Your parents are here, let them come in and yell at you and scream at you. If anything else goes on, I'll throw you in my car and take you out of here.’ She said, ‘OK, fine, baby.’
“I let them in. Instead of going to see how Britney is, they come bouncing through the doors. They scream at me, ‘Why the f---k are you talking to Barbara Walters?’ I swear to God that's all they were saying.
“The dad pushed me in the chest and said, ‘Get the f—k out of here.’
“The dad gave up and then the mom tried to talk to her, but Lynne was like, ‘I gotta get my beauty sleep, I gotta get my nails done, I gotta do my hair.’ It was just so sick. We made the mom stay.”
Lutfi said the singer suffers from “mixed state bipolar” and has had it for “roughly five years.” (A person suffering from “mixed state bipolar” experiences symptoms of mania and depression at the same time.)
He said he has told the singer, “‘Britney, do you see why people think you are crazy? Look at your mother and look at your father.’”

Osama Lutfi should be jailed for everything he has done. He is a manipulative person who swooped in on a mentally ill person. I think it would be a very sad world if he gets away with what he has done. There has to be somekind of justice. How can law enforcement not investigate further so they can charge him with at least holding someone hostage or something this man belongs off our streets.

Poor Britney. Thank goodness the courts are finally taking her situation seriously instead of just blaming her. Her parents may not be perfect (far from it! Who pushes their kids into show business but bad parents?) but at least they are doing the right things now.

Thank God someone had the courage to step in and wrestle that kid away from the leaches! Of course Sam L.'s pissed! He makes his money off this girl. Abusers always isolate their victims from their friends and family. They then get to call all the shots. You can't tell me that Sam L. cares more for Brittney than her parents! Ok all. Brit has Bi-Polar and really needs treatment. If Sam was so good to her why was he not getting her help. Adnan was not either. They were exploiting her. How dare they. I am a mother of a Bi-Polar child and know 1st hand what this is about. Brit needs lots of help and Mom and Dad stepped up to the plate and Sam is mad cause he is cut off. Yes Bi-Polar can run in families or be triggered by a traumatic event. Hey hollywood in itself can be traumatic. How many more must we see have the hollywood toll taken to. She is human, needs help so please let her parents help her. This is NOT there fault. If Sam cared he would have supported the decision her family made. Everyone is so upset that Britney's father is put in charge of her assests, thinking that money is all they care about. Private matters should be kept just that-Private, and by keeping people like Sam Lutfi out of the picture and getting restraining orders on them and KEEPING this whole thing as much out of the press as possible, Britney might just have a chance at being a semi-normal person again, before all the stalker photographers and such.

I can not believe that with all that is wrong in this world people can find nothing better to do than follow the lunacy of Britney's pathetic life. Yes the girl needs help but why all the fuss, she isn't the only disturbed person in the country. More disturbing than her mental state is the fact that she was a role model for our young girls. She has presented herself as a trashy,loose,slut in her videos far to long. At least she won't be working for awhile. Blessings are presented in many forms. Yes it is sad that this is what she has been reduced to and I hope the kid gets the help she needs. It is hard to believe that drugs aren't a factor. If she is bipolar why isn't she properly medicated by a doctor. I suspect that answer is because she finds street drugs to be more fun. Whatever-look at the boyfriend, not exactly who you'd want your daughter to bring home!

Geez! This Sam guy is so sleazy- but it's like he is the only one who can't see it! He can't see that his past mistakes are getting ready to come back to haunt him in a BIG way, and how people just seem to automatically know he is a low-life hanger-on who can't earn a living for himself and has to con people who are weak! I think this week is going to be great- we are going to find out a LOT of dirt on this dirtbag. He has been in her life long enough to have helped her if that is really what he wanted to do! Instead he takes her to the pet store and gas station every day and basically encourages her erratic behavior. I hope Jamie and Lynn can somehow extricate her from his influence, but as with any criminal, sleazy type, they seem to leech on and be impossible to get rid of. However, I would also not be suprised if someone didn't try to take him out. He is SO hated in LA and just about everywhere that he should really watch out for that. If anything happens to Brit, he will spend the rest of his life known as the guy who caused it.

It's crazy how so many people atribute Britney's illness to one thing or another. This is not about her illness anymore. If there is any seriously profesional people out there, come out and help her for real. Speak to her only and try to get into her head to see if there is some deep routed stuff to work with. Not for the fame you might get but for the reward of being able to say I cared enouph to make a difference and it payed off. I know this girl can be helped, but since reading about someones pain and suffering and talking smack of it is more important to most out there than helping it is only making matters for her worst. Someone in her state of mind is going to read the negative junk and this will only put her down even more not to mention the things she hears on radio, t.v. news etc... She's got children to be healthy for peopple, not that any of you care!!!

i think britney needs a little time to herself and stay out of relax and take a day at the spa with your sister or somebody close to her like a friend. maybe even settle down and at least take the chance to actually go to her hearings and stay until its over. and after that she may just call up her mom or maybe even go to her mom and say hey listen i am sorry for what i have done do you want to start over? well thats what i think she should do...

This didn't happen because of "PARENTING" issues, DRUG issues, MARRIAGE issues, Photogs, or ShowBIZ. It happened because its a Mental Illness. All of the WILL POWER in the world won't help, nor will co-depending with each other. She requires professional intervention and medication for a LIFETIME. It doesn't mean her life or lifestyle is over unless she decides that is what she wants after she is stablized. If you read the BLENDER article you will see that there has been evidence of a problem for a long time...everyone just attributed to something else (fame, over zealous parents, the press). Of course she got PARANOID of people close to her (parents, managers, publicists, lawyers) because she is ILL and unable to see that they were attempted to get her help and rein her in. She sees it as controlling. Most people in their 20's would. Have her parents made mistakes? Of COURSE...because they are HUMAN. (Heck even JESUS got LOST)...there ARE NO PERFECT PARENTS. We are all just doing the best we can with the information we have at the moment.
