Faith Hill's Freakout Most Watchable Part of the CMA's
Tuesday November 7, 2006

Kelly Ripa recently proposed a way to make the Oscars more exciting. “Wouldn’t it be great if the one person won and the other nominees attacked?” she asked.

Last night it looked as if Faith Hill, 39, wanted to extend this concept to the Country Music Awards when former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, 23, was announced as Female Vocalist of the Year.

Watch Faith do the preliminary, “Awww, shucks! Me? Go on! Y’all are TOO sweet!” before reality sets in, and in a thoroughly enjoyable sequence, she throws her arms up in the air and shouts, “WHAT??!!!!”

Idolator thinks that Faith's reaction was a joke, but if that's the case, she definitely should've followed up and stormed the stage, Kanye West-style, grabbed the mic away from a startled Underwood and shouted, “If I don't win, this awards show loses credibility! Nothing against you, but hell, girl!" And then had husband Tim McGraw carry her off. After all, if you're going to go crazy, Faith, GO CRAZY.

UPDATE: Faith released the following statement:
“The idea that I would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is unimaginable to me. For this to become a focus of attention given the talent gathered is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving Female Vocalist of The Year.”

Her manager, Gary Borman, adds:
“I’ve worked with Faith for many years now and the idea that she would ever insult or undermine another artist, let alone another human being’s success is absolutely preposterous. Those who know her know that she’s incapable of such actions. She was being playful while the nominations were being read and playful after.”
