Hancock: Will Smith's Eighth Movie to Open at No. 1 at Box Office

Will Smith lead the Fourth of July weekend box office.

His latest action comedy Hancock earned $107.3 million since opening last Tuesday, becoming Smith's eighth movie to open at No. 1 and his fifth movie to debut at No. 1 over the Fourth of July.

Hancock was the second-best opening weekend for Smith, following last year's I Am Legend.

"Will Smith, Mom, apple pie and the Fourth of July. It doesn't get any better," Rory Bruer, head of distribution for Sony, told the Associated Press. "People just so relate to him and the characters that he plays. They totally embraced it as something different, something fresh."

Last weekend's No. 1 film, WALL-E slipped to the second spot with $33.4 million.

Meanwhile, the Angelina Jolie thriller Wanted held strong at No. 3 with $20.6 million. (Her toon Kung Fu Panda was No. 5, with $7.5 million.)

The Anne Hathaway-Steve Carell spy comedy Get Smart earned $11.1 million, claiming the No. 4 spot.

i thought it was a good movie...the whole thing with charlize being a super was a lil hard for me to digest...i think that went a lil far...but it was good to me!

STFU.....she might have promoted it but she said maybe five or ten lines in the whole 90 minutes of the movie. Don't get crazy over it, I don't hate her I just hate to see credit being given where it isn't due. I am not blaming Angelina for that either....I know US weekly is the one doing it.

I am sick of seeing Kung Fu Panda as Angelina's movie......she had maybe ten lines in the whole movie. Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black made the movie.
