Few 21-year-olds can say that they're done with drinking before they ever do it legally, but as Lindsay Lohan spends her twenty-first in rehab today, she proves herself to be outside the norm. Usmagazine.com looks back at Lohan's past birthday milestones and discovers that she's always been ahead of the curve.

10 years old: While most kids are excited about reaching double digits, Lohan was starting her first regular television role, as Alli Fowler on soap Another World.

16 years old: No time to get her learner's permit! Lohan was busy filming her second of three Disney movie remakes, and the most commercially successful of them all, Freaky Friday.

18 years old: Lohan officially became an adult at eighteen, and with critical and commercial hit Mean Girls released that same year, she also officially became a movie star. As young adults across the nation were checking off college supply lists with their parents in the summer heat, Lohan was cooling things down with love Wilmer Valderrama. Like freshmen who'd held onto their high school sweethearts for the first semester, the couple broke up in November.

20 years old: It's a new decade for the starlet, but she's the same old Lindsay. Busy as ever, Lohan hosts Saturday Night Live for the third time, and earns strong reviews for her role in A Prairie Home Companion.

21 years old: There won't be twenty-one shots for Lohan today, as she spends this milestone in the Promises Treatment Facility in Malibu. Lohan checked in on Memorial Day, after a weekend of partying harder than most will in their lifetimes, culminating in a car crash, D.U.I., and photographs of her passed out in a car. The silver lining? While most twenty-one-year-olds spend the second day of the year in hangover hell, Lohan should be able to hit the beach and rollerblade without cursing the sun.

40 years old: While this milestone is a long way off, it's our birthday wish for Lohan that at 40, she's back to being a happy redheaded movie star. With so much strife out of the way at such a young age, there's no place to go but up!
